Strategy execution and CEO coaching

The challenge

The CEO of a New York City metropolitan hospital with operations in Puerto Rico needed guidance and coaching to help him effectively communicate the new strategy to his board, and to create an execution plan to ensure that his senior managers were achieving of the strategic objectives.

What I did

Through a series of meetings, I provided guidance and coaching on development of an accountability structure consisting of position accountabilities and performance objectives in-line with the hospital’s overall strategy. Together, we developed a board presentation to communicate the strategy, its rationale, and the execution plan. I coached the CEO on how to effectively present to the board and how to handle performance issues with his direct reports.


The CEO delivered a confident, poised and well-received presentation to his board. The accountability system led to achievement of strategic objectives and continued growth of services.
